Moivaro Hotel, Arusha, Tanzania
Elevation: 2,400 feet
Number of cockroaches on the restaurant wall that Larry smashed with the menu: 4
Helene and I awoke early and walked around the working coffee plantation at the hotel. I found a spot at the top of the hill and stayed there to stretch. Helene kept walking and found Andy and Peter and together they walked into the town of Moivaro.
After breakfast, we hired a driver to take us to the Cultural Heritage Center to buy souvenirs. Andy, Peter, Helene and I got in the Jeep and were waiting for Larry to appear for about twenty minutes. It turns out that he fell asleep on his patio. The prices at the Cultural Heritage Center were ridiculously high, but we found everything we wanted in one place and we didn't contract any infectious diseases in the process, so we paid the price.

Shopping at the Cultural Heritage Center
Andy wanted to eat Indian food for lunch, so he asked the proprietor of the Cultural Center for a recommendation. We found the restaurant and the food there turned out to be delicious, but we definitely could have done without all of the cockroaches.
After lunch, we went back to the hotel and relaxed by the pool. Peter, Larry and I played scrabble and Andy read a book. Helene applied sunscreen, but kept out of the sun just in case.
We sat down for dinner again on the veranda overlooking the lovely garden. We started talking with Bob about how many 14,000 foot plus peaks there are in the lower 48 states and Bob said that there are 68. Andy asked him how many of them he had climbed. Bob tried to be modest when he replied, "All of them."
We lit Shabbat candles and made Kiddush together for the third time in as many weeks. We thanked God for blessing this trip.
